An hour passes after lunch and hubby and I are craving something sweet! It’s an automatic craving! But no worries, we are always prepared. We usually have healthy snacks in our pantry like trail mix, applesauce, organic peanut butter, and dried fruit. Not to mention, our refrigerator is stocked with strawberries and grapes, and our fruit basket has apples and oranges to the rim. That’s preparation!
Today we decide we want a smoothie. So I used 3/4 cup of almond unsweetened milk, 1 1/2 cups of blueberries, and about 8 big strawberries. I added in 1 banana, and 1 cup of yogurt to get the smoothie creamy and blended it all together! This made 3 servings and it was an amazing healthy smoothie! Yay! Usually I add in 1/4 cup of oatmeal and some ice and it gives the smoothie a different texture. I love it! If you are making a smoothie for the first time, I recommend that you start with fruits that are most appealing to you and that have the most flavor and taste. I’ve tried making smoothies with oranges and apples but I didn’t like the texture too much. I usually stick to berries (frozen or fresh), bananas, yogurt, apple juice, oatmeal, and milk for my sweet smoothies. Just like this one in this post:) Happy smoothing!!
We just came home from our road trip to New York City and Washington DC and it really inspired us to get active. We walked for hours and hours in NYC until our shoes got scuffed up and dirty and at the end of the day all we wanted was a shower and a bed to lay down on. In DC, we decided to rent out bikes and zip trough the city. I couldn’t even imagine surviving another mile in my shoes that gave me blisters in NY.
Anyways, my hubby and I loved the bikes! It was a great workout that at the end of the day our calves, thighs and butts hurt!! Our butts only hurt because of sitting on the seat so much! But through it all, we thought, we always wanted to buy bikes of our own, now we really have to! So, we came home and the next day searched Craigslist and found 2 mountain bikes. Yeah!! Our first ride out on the town was to target for a grocery trip! We made a chart for our meals for the rest of the week, wrote out a grocery list, grabbed our back bags and rolled out! And wow…the back bags full of groceries (and a gallon of water each) was so heavy and such an obstacle to get home! I think we will definitely do grocery runs on the bike again but for the gallons of water…we will have to figure something out lol. Now, we bike everywhere. We biked to my hubby’s parents house twice (a total of 6.60 miles each trip) and our next goal is to bike to the Town Center. My map says it’s 6 miles to get there so we have to plan for 12 miles! Are we ready for this??
